{"id":6280,"date":"2023-05-05T10:20:31","date_gmt":"2023-05-05T13:20:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tupy.com.br\/?p=6280"},"modified":"2023-05-12T10:21:20","modified_gmt":"2023-05-12T13:21:20","slug":"tupy-is-mans-exclusive-supplier-of-structural-components-for-hydrogen-powered-trucks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tupy.com.br\/en\/tupy-is-mans-exclusive-supplier-of-structural-components-for-hydrogen-powered-trucks\/","title":{"rendered":"Tupy is MAN&#8217;s exclusive supplier of structural components for hydrogen-powered trucks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The Company will supply engine cylinder heads produced in CGI for use in the new MAN H45\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tupy, a leading multinational company in the production of structural components for capital goods, has recently entered into a contract to become an exclusive supplier for the engineering and production of cylinder heads used in second generation MAN H45 engines developed for hydrogen-powered trucks.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to offering zero carbon emissions, the engine presented a significant reduction in NOx compared to the diesel version, which places it considerably below the proposed EURO VII emissions standards. These standards are expected to enter into force in 2024 in Europe and establish stricter emission standards before an obligation requiring that all vehicles sold on the continent be zero emission is put into place beginning in 2035.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an innovative project that reinforces the perception that internal combustion engines are long-term decarbonization solutions and not just transient solutions,\u201d Fernando de Rizzo, Tupy\u2019s CEO, affirmed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compact Graphite Iron Cylinder Heads: increased resistance\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To meet the needs of the vehicles\u2019 hydrogen combustion system, cylinder heads are produced using the Compact Graphite Iron (CGI) alloy, which offers approximately 75% greater mechanical resistance than gray iron. CGI offers twice as much performance in terms of fatigue resistance. This combination allows for a lightweight design, even as part of a combustion process involving high operating loads. This level of durability is similar to well-known diesel or natural gas fuel versions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have invested in R&amp;D in order to make use of scalable technologies that can be commercialized to accelerate decarbonization as part of a multi-fuel strategy. Hydrogen is a highly promising alternative from among the available fuels,\u201d de Rizzo concluded.<\/p>\n<p>In February, during the International Motor Congress held in Baden-Baden, Germany, Tupy announced that it was investing in the development of other alloys to support production of hydrogen internal combustion engines. Tupy Tech\u2019s director Andr\u00e9 Ferrarese, who attended the event, detailed the importance of these products. \u201cThe hydrogen combustion engine is one of the zero-emission alternatives being considered under European legislation for use in the decarbonization of transport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For heavy-duty vehicles, this propulsion solution is preferred due to its low cost, high efficiency at high operating loads, ability to tolerate the use of non-pure hydrogen, globally distributed production and maintenance infrastructure, and level of durability far superior to any other zero-emissions solution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About TUPY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Brazilian multinational company that develops and produces structural components in cast iron of high geometric and metallurgical complexity.
